Iliolumbar Ligament Sprain

What is an iliolumbar ligament sprain?

The ligament that runs from the side (transverse process) of the 5th lumbar vertibrae to the back of the iliac crest is called the iliolumbar ligament. If this ligament is damaged it may cause pain in the sacroiliac joint area and it can be virtually impossible to tell the difference between this injury and a sacroiliac joint injury.
