Haglund's Syndrome & Haglund's Deformity

What is Haglund's Syndrome?

Haglund's syndrome is the specific condition of Retrocalcaneus bursitis and Achilles tendinitis occuring at the same time in the same leg.

Retrocalcaneus bursitis is inflammation of the bursa at the back of the heel bone and Achilles tendinitis is inflammation of the Achilles tendon.

With Haglund's deformity a bony growth appears at the back of the heel bone. This growth is called an exostosis (a benign cartilaginous growth).
