Plantar Fasciitis Night Splint (BC-PF)

The Plantar Fasciitis Splint is designed for comfortable and effective treatment of plantar fasciitis. The splint is worn overnight and stretches the plantar fascia under the foot and the Achilles tendon.

What is Plantar Fasciitis?

Plantar fasciitis is inflammation of the plantar fascia under the foot. The plantar fascia is a band of tissue that runs from the heel under the foot towards the toes. At the point of insertion at the heel pain and inflammation can occur.

Symptoms are pain in the heel which might radiate under the foot. Pain is often worse first thing in the morning and gets better during the day only to return again later.

How does the Plantar fasciitis splint work?

The plantar fasciitis splint is worn overnight and holds the foot in dorsiflexion preventing the plantar fascia from tightening up. It gently stretches the fascia back to its natural length over time. If the plantar fascia is stretched then less stress will be placed on the insertion at the heel.

How long should it take to work?

This all depends on the person involved and the severity of injury. Some people will be cured within 2 or 3 days. Others may take longer.

Are they comfortable to wear?

The plantar fasciitis splint is padded to provide comfort for the wearer. It is easily adjustable so you can start gently with reduced stretch on the foot and increase as your foot gets used to the splint.

Can they help with Achilles tendon injuries?

Yes - the splint is equally as effective at stretching the Achilles tendon in the same way making it an ideal part of Achilles tendinitis treatment. If you have suffered a total rupture of the Achilles tendon be sure to get advice from your doctor before using the splint.
